Walker is still without a phone, but he hopes to buy a simple Trac or Go Phone today. He probably won’t be able to post from either, so I will fill in where I can. I spoke with him this morning. He’s taking a nero day in Gorham, NH. He’s been hiking with three other males who are section hikers – two retired educators and one of their sons. He’s enjoyed their company as he misses Whiskers and Rocket. Yesterday they climbed Mt. Washington @6,288 feet. The weather of Mount Washington is notoriously erratic, but yesterday the wind was only about 5 mph and they could see for 90 miles! They’re feeling very fortunate to have been there on a clear and beautiful day. Walker said it reminded him of the portion of the Pyrenees that we crossed on the first day of our Camino walk last year, and it was indeed breathtaking. (In more ways than one!)
Speaking of Whiskers and Rocket, they’ve been sending me postcards. The latest one said that Walker is 85 miles ahead of them. Rocket’s father and brother joined them for a spell; they reduced their daily distance some then. They’re tired of all the rain. They’ve used Walker’s blog as a way to find out what’s ahead for them.
All for now – I’m off to pick berries.
