The AT Rollercoaster

Just a short post this morning before I head off for Damascus…
Yesterday was a Rollercoaster day. It started out beautifully with a walk along Laurel Fork, the area around Lake Watauga. About 4:00 a storm came along and it rained most of the night. This morning it is clear and cool.
I met up again with Staff at the shelter last night (Iron Mountain Shelter). I last saw him at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. It was good to catch up with what he’s been doing.
Here are some photos from yesterday…

About The Man in My Shoes

Since retiring in 2012 I am enjoying the freedom of being able to make my own decisions about how I spend my time and am taking advantage of the opportunities that I have to spend more time with my family, explore, learn, and pursue my dreams and goals. I look forward to writing about these pursuits and hope you enjoy reading about them.

Was this a “snake” in your last picture? If it was, rain, snow and cold would be nothing but this would be a definite end to any hiking! Good luck and stay well.

Looks like the lake was pretty high. Hope that was a friendly snake and that Iron Mt. Shelter was dry. Those photos tell a lot about the day’s hike.

    Wow, that’s a lot of water!!!…and a snake? Brrrrr……
